Camp Perry Collection

P.O.R.

Three Significant Colt Items:

- Factory Engraved Colt Camp Perry Pistol -

- Camp Perry Prototype Pistol -

- Set of Six Original Camp Perry Engineering Drawings -

This is a singular opportunity. The price is non-negotiable, and the package will remain intact. These items have been in the same collection for more than twelve years, and are only now being offered for a limited time.

Only 2488 Camp Perry pistols were produced from 1920 – 1941. Only two (2) were factory engraved. This is a well documented fact, and this is a well documented gun. It is described by serial number on page 366 of the Sutherland/Wilson book, and photos and a description can be found on page 317 of the Wilson/Hable book. The gun remains in MINT condition with its original box. The gun was engraved by Glahn, and the serial number (1545) makes it a 1931 production gun.

The Prototype gun has no factory documentation. To the best of my knowledge no attempt has been made to “letter” this gun. The only marking that may be a serial number is A1R80. There is a letter from R.L. Wilson to Sutherland dated 1968 that describes the gun and what Wilson thought of it when he found it. Wilson indicated that he believed the gun came from the “Engineering Collection” and therefore there would be no records of the gun. The name J.P. Gannon is stamped on the buttstrap, indicating the gun was “procured” by Joe Gannon who was head of the Custom Repair Department at the Colt factory during the Camp Perry development period. One look at the gun and there is no doubt of the guns origin.

Two of the drawings are of the Crane Assembly, two are of 10” barrels, and two are of 8” barrels.

Included in the purchase will be a special edition Colt collector magazine with the engraved gun featured. A copy of the Wilson letter about the prototype, and the Silver Medal and plaque awarded at the New Orleans NRA Convention for one of the Top Ten Firearms on display for the engraved gun.

This is a great deal of money, but opportunities like this are priceless – if you can afford them.
