Liege Guild - 1942 SxS - 16ga 27-1/2" - Like New

SOLD

Belgian Guild Gun – Manufacture Generale D’Armes A Liege – Made in 1942 –

16ga, 27-1/2”, 2-3/4”, M/F – Double Triggers, Ejectors, Raised Rib, Hidden 3rd Fastener. Case Colored Sculpted Receiver with Game Scene Engraving, Side Clips, and Automatic Safety. Weight – 6 lbs. 4 oz.

Straight Hand Stock at 15-1/4” LOP with Drop of 1-11/16 to 2-7/8”, with a Splinter Forearm.

This gun is in wonderful condition. The metal is 98% showing no signs of use. The wood has a scattering of handling marks – probably from being handled in and out gun cabinets. The gun shows no signs of having been fired, and certainly no signs of having been in the field. The gun is tight - as a new gun would be - and retains 100% of its mechanical life.

This is one of those guns with an interesting story - though, unfortunately, not one that adds value!

I acquired the gun from the grandson of an Army Colonel who landed on the beach at Normandy in 1944. After the war he stayed in Germany until 1952. As a ranking officer in Army of Occupation he was housed in the former home of a German Admiral. While I was visiting with the family, I saw Nazi Military items, and 16mm film canisters with film of U-Boats and even of Hitler conducting an inspection at a Navy facility.

As I said, interesting, but the gun stands on its own!
