Remington 48 SD Factory Engraved - D Grade 20ga
SOLD
Remington Model 48SD 20ga - Custom Shop “D” or “Tournament” Grade. This gun was made in December of 1951 and has a FACTORY Lyman Cutts. The only thing that is not original about the gun is the tube in the Cutts as it is a Modified choke and is blued. The Cutts compensator has the same Custom Grade Brushed Satin finish as the rest of the gun, but not the tube. The gun would probably have left the factory with a Spreader tube or a whole set of tubes. The barrel is about 21-1/2” to the beginning of the Cutts and about 25” to the front sight, exactly as it should be – gives the same sight plain as an O/U with 28” barrels. There are no choke markings on the barrel. The barrel is serialized to the gun, and the last four of the serial number is inside the forearm in orange grease pencil. LOP is 14-1/8” to the original butt plate. The gun does not appear to have been used a great deal. I rate the ORIGINAL blue finish at about 98%, and the wood at about 95% with a scattering of handling marks. The checkering is in Excellent condition and there are no cracks or significant damage to the wood. These High Grade Remington shotguns are a super value. If this gun said Winchester on it instead of Remington, two things are certain: the price would be triple and the engraving wouldn’t be as good. |
